Transfer Station , formerly known as the dump.

The disposal of waste is always a problem in a small, relatively isolated community ; not however in Tagish. The Department of Community Services manages a transfer station where residents can deposit domestic garbage, waste construction materials, tires, scrap metal ( e.g cars, refrigerators, etc.), e-waste and brush. There is also provision for the storage of toxic products.

Much of this is then transferred  to the large waste facility in Whitehorse. Scrap metal is compacted and on a regular basis, shipped south. The transfer station is situated on Reid Road and is open year round on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12 noon to 5pm and  on Saturday's and Sunday from 9 am until 5pm.  There is no access outside the open hours.

Carcross Health Centre

Hours of operation:

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
Closed for lunch 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Closed Friday afternoon for admin purposes.
Closed Stat. Holidays.
Please note we close the doors 30min prior to lunch and the end of the day.

When the health centre is closed we are still open for emergencies. There is a nurse-on-call available 24 hr/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year. Please contact us at 867-821-4444.

If you are unsure if you are having a medical emergency you may call 811 for the Yukon Health Line nurse or call the health centre to talk with the nurse-on-call to see what is recommended. If you have an emergency during our closed hours it is highly recommended that you try to call the health centre before you leave so the nurse can expect and prepare for your arrival. If you arrive without calling ahead you can use the black phone on the outside of the building to notify the nurse that you need care. The nurses do not live in the Health Centre so expect a short wait while they travel to the Health Centre. Rarely the nurse may be unavailable or not in the community if they are already caring for another emergency patient. In this case please proceed to Whitehorse General Hospital.

The Carcross Health Centre provides a full service medical clinic including:
