Campground and Day Use Area

Close to the Tagish Bridge are two recreational areas which can be used by locals and visitors alike. The first is the Tagish Campground which is situated on the east side of the River, just as you approach the Bridge from the direction of the Alaska Highway. Situated on settlement lands it is owned and managed by the Carcross Tagish First Nation. It consists of 15 sites accessible for both RV’s and tenters. A boat launch is available close to the campground. The campground is typically open from the May long weekend until Labour Day and the cost per night of camping is $12. Firewood is normally available for campers. The Day Use area is a territorial government site and is located immediately on the west side of the Bridge, on the right hand side as you approach it from the Alaska Highway. It is designed primarily for people to park and launch their boats at the boat launch. People who fish from the Bridge also use it for parking. Toilet facilities are available. Overnight camping is not allowed. There is no cost for the use of this site. When parking people must take care not to block access to private properties situated around the area as emergency vehicles may need room to manoeuver.
